The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Frustration Regarding Size Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Reaction
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
The company said the revised method more closely matches similar services.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Earlier, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Required Changes
A different user, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she said.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
